Kia Ora Koutou, Ko Connor toku ingoa, No Mawhera ahau .Ladies and gentlemen could I have your attention please. I would like to inform and persuade you about the dangers of illegal street racing all over the world.
I would like to inform you about Street racing. This when a group of people get together and race and bet on other people and their cars. This usually happens in back streets of towns and cities. Unsted of race tracks, Street Racing is happening all over the world this a real issue .
I felt that the street racing should be shut down. This should not just happen here in
New Zealand but everywhere in the world. Because people are dieing, here is an example
2 men plead guilty to manslaughter following street racing in west Auckland in 2013.
Calum Elliot and Dylan Chad decided to hold a race after having a disagreement about whose car was fastest. Tyler Hoyles job was to warn the racers of any oncoming cars, but as Elliot and Chad approached, their friend began crossing the road. A woman living on the street was driving home and saw 2 cars pulled up on the side of the road and a boy lying in the middle of the two cars. She said he must have died straight away .
I found it extremely disturbing when I saw the tv program Street outlaws. That program is based on Street racing in oklahoma city in the USA. The street racing in Oklahoma city has been going on for 30 years . I feel this tv program would promote street racing all over the world .The people in the street outlaws are paying thousands of dollars to build a car to win one race for $1000. These people are not paying off their house and other needs just so they can win a race .
The Knock - on
Seventeen cars were impounded and eight people arrested in the latest crackdown in may. Counties Manukau road policing manager Inspector Alison Brand says police will not stop there. The knock-on effect to a vehicle being impounded is significant for these car enthusiasts because that's their pride and joy. It also has a knock on effect for how they get to work.
Newshub joined police t impounding vehicles, and saw two cars being seized including a souped up VW Golf in Sandringham, and a Nissan Leopard in Birkdale. Both of these cars were caught racing a doing burnouts.
NZ Drag Racing
It frustrates me alot when people race on the roads and get themselves killed, because they are not wearing the right equipment. when New Zealand government spend $8.3 million for a new international dragway at the TECT All-Terrain Park would regard Tauranga to become the home of drag racing in New Zealand. This track is not just for top fuel racers but people with their normal everyday cars and bikes. At these events have many safety posedursers before you race. You have to wear helmets your helmets have it be fully enclosed with a roll cage but with a gap of 50mm from the top and 100mm from the sides.
In conclusion street racing is a big issue in New Zealand and all over the world this should stop. People are going to continue to die if this does not stopped.
